Zap Cloth
Zap cloth is a wonderful fabric for creating distressed surfaces.
Step 1: Paint, colour with dyes, shiva stiks, walnut ink however you like. Create a wonderful, colourful piece.
Step 2: Place Zap cloth on fabric or paper, cover with baking parchment (i.e. something to protect the iron), and iron with a very hot iron for a short time. You will need to practice this bit to determine what suits your particular iron.
Step 3: Zap cloth should be stuck to fabric/paper and quite a lot burnt away creating a wonderfully distressed surface. If ironing isn't working enough for you try the heating process with a heat gun.

Vanishing Muslin
Guttermann's Heat away is a special webbing which dissolves during the ironing process and can be brushed off.
Step 1. Frame up 1 or 2 layers in a frame.
Step 2. Embroider/ quilt design
Step 3. When complete trim away excess close to stitching.
Step 4. Cover work with baking parchment or similar.
Step 5.
Lightly iron (no steam) at temperature to match fabric until Heat Away turns brown.
Step 6. Brush away the remains using a soft brush.
