Dissolvable film or fabric is fantastic for machine embroidery, machine made lace, creating stand alone motifs, braids, the list is endless. There are varying thickness and strengths available.

Aquabond
Aquabond is a sticky fronted cold water soluable film that everyone is talking about! It is wonderful for appliqué and creative collages. Appearing like a fine muslin, strong and robust, the front (or top) of the fabric is coated in a soluble glue.
You can create simple or complex designs by either drawing straight onto the material or using a computer and inkjet printer to print a computerised design directly onto the fabric. To appliqué, make a duplicate of your design, cut out the patterns and lay them on the sticky surface. Machine or hand stitch over the pieces and joints ensuring the stitches overlap
To perform free style machine embroidery or to paint with the needle ensure the machine feed dogs are off and the open darning foot is attached. Set the machine to embroider a straight or zigzag stitch and simply move the background fabric as you embroider. (We strongly recommend a hoop be used to eliminate puckering).
Dissolve in cold water. Warm water will hasten the dissolve time. |

Romeo is perfect for beginners and experienced machine embroiderers. The film offers superior strength for intensive stitching. Also useful as a base for hand embroidery. Use with a hoop or unhooped, the film's strength makes stitching on it a breeze.
Romeo is a high quality clear film that can be used in a variety of ways without disintegrating. The thickness of the film is such that you can undertake a number of processes without the film dissolving before you want it too. Suitable for use in humid conditions. You can print from your computer onto it, draw on it and even paint a design with acrylic paint (no added water however!!). Full instructions and ideas booklet included in every sale.

Vilene 541 - Dissolvable Fabric

Vilene 541 is a very easy to use lightweight dissolvable fabric. It dissolves with a touch of water meaning that you can use a damp cloth to remove it instead of soaking the whole piece. This is very handy when creating machine lace edges to pieces. A good companion to Romeo offering different qualities in that it is a fabric and so very easy to stitch on despite being lightweight (unlike lightweight films!). Use hooped for maximum ease, Vilene 541 gives you a versatile dissolvable with minimal residue. |
