The desire to dabble in everything textile related led to the creation of Essential Textile Art. Starting from a love of cross stitch, delving into free style embroidery soon became quilting and book making, cloth doll making, print making, experimental work with wire and paper clay… the list goes on so if you're a lover of all things textile then this site is created for you too.
From my many years of keen interest in textile art I have found that helping people to encourage their creative spirit to emerge gives me great satisfaction. After years of teaching design it never fails to amaze what people can create given the encouragement and freedom to do so without judgement or criticism. A little friendly encouragement can lead to an opening up of rich possibilities of exploration. Not every path leads to a masterpiece but every exploration transforms the inquirer.
